Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do
I was born in Northumberland, brought up in Scotland and in my adult life have lived in London, Edinburgh and am now settled back in glorious Northumberland. I have extensive experience gained from working in various roles within both publishing and estate agency that have involved general administrative tasks, copywriting, editing, design and office management. I am conscientious, hard-working, self-motivated, reliable and pride myself in meeting deadlines and attention to detail.
Tell us about your business
I set up my business earlier this year as I love admin and helping others get organised … Cornerstone pa services offers a wide range of business and personal administrative support …. offering a flexible, personal and cost-effective service from help with paperwork, internet research, copywriting and updating your social media to creating a memorable photobook or even a bit of upcycling.
What are the most sparkly bits of what you do?
I guess the most sparkly bits would be the creative side... copywriting, evergreen social media images and also creating beautiful photobooks.
What are the biggest challenges you face running your business?
My biggest challenge is finding new clients, while I have only been going for a few months and I have some fabulous clients I would love more... I am shy and find networking rather daunting but know I need to get better at it!
What have been your biggest achievements and how have you celebrated them?
I guess my biggest achievements have been creating my website, which is only basic but as I had never done one before I am quite proud of it, and also finding the clients that I have so far. I celebrate with a little happy dance and perhaps some cake!
What are your goals – for yourself and your business?
I’m not aiming high … I would just like to enjoy my working life, have lovely clients to work with and be appreciated and rewarded for the work I do.
What is your favourite place in the North East and why?
I love Redesdale, well particular parts really, while I was brought up in Scotland my family were lucky to have a holiday cottage close to the River Rede and all my holidays were spent here and the surrounding countryside is so beautiful.
Who or what puts a Sparkle in your eye?!
My children, well they aren’t children anymore … my son is 25 and my daughter is 23! They have grown up to very considerate and caring individuals who are a pleasure to spend time with … sadly they live in Copenhagen and London so time with them is very precious these days!
A final Sparkly thought – what tips would you give to busy, hard-working entrepreneurs?
Concentrate on what you are good at, outsource what you aren't good at! Always consider that it may be better outsourcing tasks to a skilled person who can do them much quicker (and better) than you, and you can then concentrate on other aspects of your business or
even having a bit of free time which is important for busy, hard-working people who often forget about themselves!
