Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do
I'm Charlotte, married to my incredibly supportive husband Dave and we have 2 kids, Emily who is nine and Alex is seven.
My business is Mini Mixers – a crafty ‘cakey’ business.
Tell us about your business
Mini Mixers provides stress-free, fun-filled parties all across the North East. I offer craft and cupcake based parties with loads of different packages and themes. I also offer adult options for cupcake decorating too – perfect for hen parties and baby showers.
I'm a fully registered baker and offer cakes and cupcakes for all celebrations.
What are the most sparkly bits of what you do?
Me!! My background is in customer service, event management and working with children and I put all my experience gains from these fields into everything I do. I'm a mum too, so I think that helps me put myself in my customers’ shoes.
I'm so passionate about what I do and I hope people can feel that in my cakes and parties.
What are the biggest challenges you face running your business?
The biggest challenges are working alone. It's all on me. I have amazing support at home and I couldn't do it without that. Back up is so lovely, Dave has even done a party for me when I had emergency spinal surgery. It was a huge success and he got lovely feedback too!
What have been your biggest achievements and how have you celebrated them?
My biggest achievement was possibly a big Macmillan event I organised. My mum sadly had cancer and we wanted to give back. So I organised a huge event with stall holders and crafts, cake sale and raffle. We raised over £1,500. My mum sadly died the following year and it brings me such joy to look at the photos from the event. Mini Mixers did good!
What are your goals – for yourself and your business?
Oh I'm the worst goal setter. Somehow over the last four years Mini Mixers had become so much bigger then I expected!
I'm not sure what the next four years hold but it needs to be fun filled, passionate and full of cake!!
What is your favourite place in the North East and why?
Good question … I love Druridge Bay. It's full of sunny, happy memories together as a family.
Who puts a Sparkle in your eye?!
Oh an amazing slice of cake, a well brewed coffee and looking across at friends or family.
A final Sparkly thought – what tips would you give to busy, hard-working entrepreneurs?
Invest in you. YOU are your business. If you don't sparkle your business never will. Work hard. Listen to advice and do what makes you smile. Love Charlotte.
